I document longitudinal stories about people who refuse to be simplified.
Three documentary features. A decade with one. The slower way of working — and the only way these stories survive intact.
I direct and produce documentaries that take five years, sometimes ten. 50 Years of Fabulous followed the Imperial Council of San Francisco for half a century of LGBTQ history. The Long Rescue has spent a decade with Filipina teen survivors of trafficking in Cebu. #MyNameIs chronicled the global movement against Facebook's real-name policy. My Revolutionary Mother is a confrontation with my own family. The work I want to be remembered for is the patient kind — participants given the time it actually takes for a person to show up on camera.
